GarageBand is one great program teachers can use to connect with students and their digital skills and abilities. With GarageBand, an application that comes with every Mac computer, students can record and import sounds to edit, remix, and share.
A few of the great things teachers can do with GarageBand include:
- Record a lesson and allow students to download it to their iPods or other devices
- Creating a podcast around topics the content that goes beyond the standard curriculum and make it optional (for student who want more)
- Remix popular songs or recordings to include lyrics about current topics of study
- Record interviews with topic areas experts and make them available on the class website
- Record the principal giving a motivational talk and play it to inspire students
- Ask students to write book chapters and record them to create audiobooks
- Record students at the end of the year giving advice for the next class
GarageBand is a great tool for creating fun and educational digital projects that students will get excited about.
