Moodle in the Classroom

Moodle can be used in the classroom or serve as the classroom itself. It's a great educational website building software package. It's completely Open Source so it's freely downloadable and there is support for any questions or concerns on their website.

Moodle has served many teachers well in one of two ways. As a place to store and exchange class files or a virtual version of the classroom. Teachers who use it as a place to store and exchange files tend to have a link on the main class website where students can click to go to the Moodle site. There, students can turn-in homework assignments to the teacher, upload work to store and retrieve later (if needed), or pass files back and forth between group members working on a project.

Teachers who use Moodle as a virtual version of their classroom have it as their main class website. All relevant files are stored and shared when needed, calendars for events and assignments are set up and viewable by students and parents, important announcements are shared there, and all activities and assignments are either accessed or turned in via the class Moodle site.

To view examples of Moodle visit the Mount Orange School demo or Moodle Demonstration sites.
