Top 11 from '11: #5- Blogger

Blogger is Google's version of a blog publishing service. It started in August of 1999 as a small company out of San Francisco called Pyra Labs. In 2003 Google purchased the company and added it to it's team in order to help people have their own voice on the web and organize the world's information from the personal perspective.

Blogger blogs are hosted by Google on a subdomain at blogspot.com. Users can create a Blogger blog for free with a Google account. From there users write posts (several paragraphs of text) on topics, thoughts, and ideas that interest them or an audience.

Blogs display posts in reverse chronological order so that the newest information is posted at the top and other entries are listed below. What makes blogs unique is the opportunity to incorporate media (images, videos, audio, and more).

Even further, users connect with each other through following, hyperlinking, and comments. Many bloggers look for others that share the same interests and learn from one another. For instance, bloggers interested in cars may find others that like to research, talk, and share all things automotive. Others like politics, health and fitness, or sports.

No matter the topic, you can find others that share the same passion. By using Google's Blog Search it becomes easy to find the group of Bloggers that you can become a part of.
