Looking Back- What's in a Name?
How can you go forward if you don't know where you've been? Why not ask students this question? Teachers spend a lot of time explaining what will happen at the end of the week (quiz), end of the month (test) and end of the year (exam), why not take a little time and look back. Larry Ferlazzo has a great article on "The best places for students to learn about their names."
If you have some down time (between units, slow Friday, technology suddenly down?) and you're not sure how to spend it, try out some of these sites for an opportunity to motive students in a new way. They may even become more productive (and motived) afterward! :)
