QR Codes

QR Codes are the squares with small black dots inside that can be scanned with a QR Code reader or enabled smartphone (iPhone, Android, etc.). This type of technology was first introduced in the automotive industry by Toyota in the early 1990's. It has grown in use and popularity outside of the car industry because of the smartphone and app market.

QR Codes have the ability to present large amounts of information in a small area, compared to the more traditional bar codes. The auto industry used the codes to track vehicles and their associated parts. Today, they're being used in fashion, advertising, banking, the US government, and many more.

You can see QR Codes in magazines, on signs, in buses, on the back of business cards, or just about any object you can imagine.
