Delicious for Teachers

Teachers are challenged to keep up with technology. More educational institutions are striving for 1:1 environments where each student has a laptop (or equivalent). And the Internet is so vast, with so many helpful resources and ideas, it can be difficult to keep track of it.

When it comes to saving any helpful websites or online resources, Delicious is one possibility. It's a social bookmarking tool that allows teachers to save website URLs, organize them into 'stacks,' then share them with whomever they may need.

If a teacher is working on a Science lesson and finds several helpful tutorial videos, a great article, and some interesting pictures that could help, saving the URLs in Delicious and naming them Science Lesson 1 will keep them neat and organized. After the lesson is presented, they can share a single link to that group of links for students or parents to easily access later.

When working on a unit lessons, create a 'stack' and share it students so they can look ahead to see what they'll be learning for next few weeks. Students and parents can access the links in the same spot, and have access to them wherever there's an Internet connection; at home, the library, or a mobile device.

If a teacher is responsible for an extra-curricular group of students, any relevant Internet resources can be kept and shared easily with the group. And if a student happens to say, "Hey, I found a great resource to help with our next lesson," you can quickly add it to the 'stack' of links so everyone has it and look through it whenever they need.
