Pandora

The Greek meaning of Pandora is "all gifted." In mythology, Pandora was given many gifts from the gods, including the gift of music. She was also very curious.

Pandora the website has made it their mission to reward anyone musically curious with a never-ending discovery of new songs and artists. They want you to be able to play only the songs you love and make it easy to add to the list.

To do this they've undertaken the most comprehensive analysis of music ever undertaken. Their team of experts are listening to music, one song at a time, and studying every detail, from melody and harmony, to instrumentation and rhythm, then to vocals and lyrics. This allows users to type in their favorite artist or song and create a playlist around it.

With each playlist Pandora scans the entire world of analyzed music, which is almost a century of popular recordings, to find songs with interesting musical similarities to fill your playlist. A user can create up to 100 unique playlists or 'stations,' and fine tune them by giving songs a thumbs up or thumbs down. Pandora learns your preferences and plays songs to that meet your liking.
