As with many of the social media sites (Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, etc.) there's material that can appear that isn't always appropriate for the classroom. This is why so many schools and districts ban the use of social media. That's unfortunate, because the saying goes, "One bad apple spoils the bunch." 

Bad apples that appear on YouTube shouldn't ruin the great learning experiences that can take place for young students. This is why it's so important for teachers and administrators to understand how sites like Pinterest work so they can use them with confidence.

After all, isn't education about teaching young people about the wonders, and the dangers, of the world so they can go out and conquer both, and make a great life for themselves?
