Moodle for Teachers

The great thing about Moodle is that teachers have the option of making it a stand-alone class website or a resource for making the classroom run smoother and more efficient.

Teachers that choose to make Moodle their stand-alone website have most, if not all, the digital tools they need. In addition to keeping all relevant classroom files and assignments in one place, teachers have lots of themes to choose from, and customize, to make their site stand out. They can incorporate a calendar that displays upcoming events and due dates for students, create an announcement forum where all relevant updates are seen, links to other helpful websites can be added at any time, wikis allow students to add and edit content on the site, and open discussion forums keep conversations going beyond regular school hours.

If Moodle is used as a supplemental resource to a class, teachers have the option of storing their content there and linking to it through the main class site. Moodle can be used as the site students move to for downloading all class content. Instead of using Flickr for pictures, YouTube for videos, and Scribd for documents, teachers have one site where all files live. It makes it easier for students to find what's needed quickly and easily. And there's no worry about students' attention being taken away by other content when visiting other sites.
