Screencast-O-Matic for Students

Some of the best questions students have are often the ones that go unasked. Students are often too shy, uncertain that their question is relavant, or afraid of what peers may say or think.

Screencast-O-matic is one way students can get their questions answered and not have to worry about asking it in front of their peers. Teachers will often go through slides to teach a lesson. If the teacher used Screencast-O-matic to pre- or post- record those slides and post them to the class website, students can watch them before or after the lesson and not have to worry about missing any of the details.

If a student still has a question, and still uncertain of asking it during class, they can post it on the class website or email the teacher later. This can help build a strong relationship between teacher and student without having to broadcast everything in the middle of the classroom.

If a teacher is willing, they can have students record videos with Screencast-O-matic. They can create videos that answer common questions that involve procedures in the classroom, such as; where do I turn in homework, how do I contact the teacher with a question, or where are the bellringer questions on the class website?

Students can also be proactive in their learning and be responsible for teaching specific lessons throughout the year. They can compile information, find images that support their findings, and compile a list of additional resources to record in Screencast-O-matic to present to the class as a lesson.

Before long all the videos can be collected in one place for students to view and review as the year(s) move on.
