With so much available technology, it can be easy to take lots of pictures, shoot plenty of video, type tons of papers and reports, and not keep all of it one place. Websites make it possible to publish all of these things, but it shouldn't fall solely on the teachers shoulders to continually update it with everything that goes on.
Wikispaces makes it possible for a large group of people to collaborate on a single website. This allows everyone in a classroom to publish, update, and add anything new to the site. Once the teacher signs up for a Wikispace, they can easily give controlled access to students.
Together, the class can:
- Publish their finished poetry
- Embed the latest video projects
- Add picture slideshows from the day, week, month, etc.
- Contribute to online class discussions
- 'Hang' flyers in the form of a .pdf announcing important dates
- Type in lab reports
- Ask open ended questions to the teacher or fellow students
- Give temporary access to a content expert, parent, or other class to contribute to lessons
- Archive important lessons, activities, student work, directions, or helpful links
