DropBox

DropBox is a free web-based file hosting service that allows you to bring your photos, docs, and videos anywhere and share them easily. It utilizes cloud storage so users can store and share files and folders over the Internet with file synchronization.

The company was found by two MIT students, Drew Houston and Arash Ferdowsi, in 2007. They were tired of emailing files to themselves so they could work from more than one computer.

Now, there are more than 25 million people across the globe using DropBox so they'll always have their stuff at hand. With versions for Microsoft Windows, Mac OSX, and Linux, as well as for mobile devices, you'll be able to share files with any computer or device.

DropBox utilizes a freemium model where you receive up to 2 GB of file space. Users who refer others to DropBox can add up to 8 GB of space. Additional storage can be purchased as needed.
