Diigo in the Classroom

If you're a teacher, parent, or ever worked with middle schoolers (or other grade levels, really), you know it can be a challenge to get students to remember what you think they should. Anyway, isn't remembering 'stuff' what school is all about?

Diigo is one tool to make remembering 'stuff' a lot easier. Well, anything on the Internet, that is. Simply create a Diigo account and save all the websites you like. Start 'tagging' them so all similar Sites are grouped together. Then share what you have with others and you're well on your way to becoming a social bookmarking expert.

A few great ideas for using Diigo in the classroom are:

  • Save all the Sites students could use for completing work throughout the year
  • Group similar sites together for:
    • the same unit, same time period, tutorials, topic, grading period, etc.
  • Save Sites for certain student groups
    • period 1, ESL, AIG
  • Student project examples from previous years
  • Group and share parent links together
  • Highlight and/or sticky note important ideas, images, sentences, etc.
  • Share links with colleagues to collaborate on inter-disciplinary projects

Try all of the ideas and more. Go to Diigo, and sign up for an account, you just might save the entire Internet.
