Social Media and Administrators

Just as teachers are reluctant to use Social Media, administrators are the key to a school's use and success of the powerful tools. Administrators are often the gatekeepers when it comes to the Internet and the tools of the media trade.

Every school has its teachers who are either gung-ho about technology or happily let the technology revolution pass them by. All it takes is the one no of a principal to ban Social Media from an entire school.

If only administrators understood the power of the...no, not the dark side, but the force, speed, and scope of learning that Social Media tools provide. If you're not sure of the force of Social Media, look at the Students Love Tech Infographic. If you haven't seen the speed of the Internet, see what happens every 60 seconds. And witness the scope of the learning that centers around Social Media.

Just like teachers, administrators can be isolated. Often feeling alone in a fight for what's right. They forget about the world outside the walls of the school and the opportunity to see what others are doing and how they're creating success. Administrators need each other. They need a professional learning community to call their own, with people who understand their struggle and feel their frustration. They also need a way to share what they're doing right.

The good news is that there are places to go and people to turn to. Look through the following links to learn more about success with administrators and Social Media:
