Google Calendar

Google Calendar is a great time-management web application that's been around since 2006. Created by Kevin Fox, who also designed Gmail, Calendar is meant to look similar to other desktop calendars (Microsoft Outlook, iCal, etc.) but function in your web browser so you can access it from any Internet connection on multiple devices (phone, iPad, tablet, etc.).

A great feature in Google Calendar is the sharing option. Each calendar you create can be shared, either read-only or with full editing control, or with everyone or specific people.

You can synchronize your Google Calendar with many mobile devices, such as Blackberry, Palm, iPhone, Pocket PC, and more.

Since this is a Google application, it easily integrates with all other Google Apps.
  • Gmail: When emails arrive in your inbox that contain trigger words like, 'meeting,' or specific dates and time, an 'add to calendar' button appears in the message to easily add information to your Google Calendar.
  • iGoogle: Your Google homepage has a widget you can add to easily display your Google Calendar with options to edit how time is displayed and an option for adding events.
  • Google Desktop: This software for Windows or Mac OS X offers a mini-calendar gadget to view your agenda without having to open your Internet browser. You can change your settings to place it on your desktop or leave it docked in the sidebar.
