A Professional Learning Network (PLN) is a group of professionals with similar goals, ideas, and actions that learn and teach one another. Most of all, a PLN is there help you when you need it.
After you've become comfortable with using Social Media, it would be a good idea to build your own Professional Learning Network (PLN). Lucky for us, there are plenty of people out there who've done all the hard work. They've gotten to know others on Twitter and through seminars and webinars and can tell you who the go-to people are.
We've mentioned Cybrary Man (@cybraryman1 on Twitter) before. His website is a gallery of information and recommendations. One of the helpful things he's done is compile a list of PLN Stars (and superstars!) Simply look through his list of Twitter user names and add any you think would be a good addition to your PLN.
If this list doesn't completely satisfy you, @stumpteacher has a spreadsheet that will also help! So go out and start building your PLN!
To see Twitter in action, read this great article by Adrienne Lu from philly.com about teachers in the Philadelphia area taking advantage of their PLN's on Twitter.
