Administrators And Social Media

Ok, ok, we get it! You get tired of being asked and pushed into 21st Century 'Stuff' in your classroom. After all teachers can get a bad rap when it comes to technology, even if they're not the ones to blame.

In many cases the buck stops at the administrator. Whether it's not enough (or non existent) professional development, 'budget' restrictions, too many meetings and not enough personal time to self learn, too many duties and responsibilities, or standardized testing and curriculum doesn't allow time to implement the lessons and ideas you have!

Well, if it's the administrator getting in your way, there are many resources and people willing to encourage the higher-ups. Included, are other administrators trying and testing things out at their schools.

J. Robinson is a school administrator who prides himself on being a 21st Century Principal. He recently gave a talk at NCTIES this year that centered on the topic of Engaging More Administrators in Social Media.

In his presentation he gives 4 reasons why Social Media helps him and his school. There is also a slideshare of his presentation, Getting Administrators Connected, from the conference if you'd like to view it.

If you happen to share this with your administrator and they'd like to know more, tell them  to follow Mr. Robinson on Twitter for updates, information, and the opportunity to see who he's following to get connected with other administrators and teachers who share resources and information.

Before you know it, you're administrator will be as fired up about technology and social media as you are!
