Picasa in the Classroom

Schools are moving to Google Apps for their faculty and student email and storage. And why not? It's free, has amazing tools included, tons of support and resources online, a huge and growing community of users, and it's free.

One of tools included with Google Apps is Picasa, a great photo management application. With Picasa, you organize all of the photos on your computer into one nicely layed-out interface and then edit, customize, and share your photos with friends, family, colleagues, classmates, or teachers.

Students can use Picasa to share project photos, create movies and picture stories, crop and resize, add fun effects, or just manage all of the pictures they take for themselves or a group.

Teachers can easily keep track of all the classroom pictures that are taken and share them on a class Google+ page, class website/blog, put together movies that highlight student work, or share pictures through email with a few simple clicks.

School administrators can use Picasa to create great looking slideshows or movies that put student and staff work on display. They can create special projects for staff meetings, PTO gatherings, website visitors, or fellow administrators from other schools to let others know the great work that happens.
