My neighbor was telling me this is what he said to his wife and kids a few weeks ago. They took a trip to a town they've never visited, but always talked about. One morning, the Dad asked the family to get in the car, it was already packed, they were headed to the town for the day.
I thought this would be a great thing to do with my family. After eating breakfast I asked my wife to grab our eight month old son, I was getting the dog, and we were heading out the door because the car was already packed.
My wife was very excited (so was the dog), and we wen to a town we had talked about visiting, but till that day had not traveled to. We spent the day walking on the waterfront, eating a great lunch where the people were friendly and talked with us a while, driving around looking at neighborhoods and old buildings, and even drove past a well-known place we saw on a PBS special. It was great!
How often do we do things like this? If I hadn't heard about it from my neighbor, I wouldn't have. With all the conveniences, technology, and services available, it seems that we have less time instead of more. But taking a day, even half a day or a few hours, seems like too much of a commitment. I recommend stopping, unplugging, and enjoying your time, instead of constantly worrying about getting everything done.
Don't worry, everything will be there tomorrow, I promise.
