My wife woke up one morning this week with a sore lower back. It's been difficult for her do typical chores around the house. When we talk about it I attempt to get her to sit or lay still in order to rest it. She will, but as soon as I go to do something and come back she's trying to bend over to pick something up, grab something up high, or generally do things that re-aggravate her back.

When I ask why, her reply is that it's, "not that bad," and, "I'll push through it."

That got to me thinking about how much we 'push through things.' Even when our bodies, minds, or both tell us to rest. In fact, I would say that our bodies are screaming for rest. But, its not easy to, rest.

It's interesting to listen to people (or read) talk about how they would love to go on vacation, sleep in, or not have to work so they can rest. Yet, we can't do it. We can't rest.

As I write this post on a Sunday, given to us as a day of rest, how would you choose to rest? Would you read a book, sit by the pool, sit on the floor and play with your kids, watch an enjoyable movie, or just sit in a quiet room and let your mind wander where it may?

Any of these will do, pick one and try it. Your back, or most other parts, may thank you!
