Mahara

Mahara is an open source ePortfolio and social networking software. It allows users to (1) collect, reflect on, and share their achievements online and (2) create online communities and social networks through Groups, Blogs, and Forums.

It is considered a sister site of Moodle and users can create a single login for Mahara and Moodle. It works on a similar open source and open principle platform so individuals, schools, or Univesities can easily customize to fit their needs.

Mahara was started in 2006 through a collaborative between New Zealand's Tertiary Education Commission, Massey University, Auckland University of Technology, The Open Polytechnic of New Zealand, and Victoria University of Wellington.
