Scribd in the Classroom

Too often in education we write great stuff, and the only person who reads is the teacher. By nature teachers look for what's wrong and send it back. Not a lot of encouragement or opportunity to share it with people who want to read it.

Scribd is every students', teachers', and administrators' opportunity to share what they've written with a community of people who are looking to read, discuss, and connect around shared ideas.

Students have the opportunity to publish their work and share it with friends. They can also keep their work together in one telefolio (an electronic portfolio of work), to carry through school and look through often to check progress.

Teachers can publish work to share and collaborate with colleagues, give students opportunities to access and download classwork documents, and archive classroom lessons and activities.

Administrators can self publish books, research, handouts, flyers, announcements, and more. A link in an email, on the school website, or in a personal blog that connects students, teachers, parents, or central office personel to a document allows the recipient to view, download, or pass along important information.

Whether it's students, teachers, or administrators, Scribd is a great tool for social publishing where anyone has the opportunity share their work and connect with others. It's time to share what we've written with only the teacher.
