Students are expected to learn the curriculum taught in school. They're also expected to pick up a lot of other things along the way; sound judgement, peer interaction, proper speech, accepted forms of expression, and many more.
This is why Vimeo is a great alternative to YouTube in the classroom. Vimeo has already learned a lot of that stuff so it's much more behaved!
So many schools and classrooms are either denied access or have such strong filters that it's often difficult to find content that's helpful in the classroom.
Since Vimeo is a respectful community of creative people who are passionate about sharing their videos, students and teachers should feel safe(r) posting their work and searching what others have done.
Students should feel safe posting videos that:
-Show off their latest Science project
-Introduce themselves to classmates
-Show summer experiences
-Give a tutorial for Math problems
-Allow practice for foreign language class
-Have students reading original poetry in Language Arts
-Have the latest vlog report on current events for Social Studies
-Have a record of students running habits for PE
No matter what the project, assignment, or work, Vimeo will showcase students talents and abilities in a respectful place.
