Voki for Students

Students love choice. Even at the earliest age and grade level, they enjoy picking what they want to do, telling where they want to go, and the work they prefer to complete.

When it comes to being digital, students like to create avatars of themselves. They enjoy customizing themselves just like many other things, including; cell phone covers and ring tones, Facebook page (when older than 13), MySpace page, clothing, music, movies, their room, and they way they talk.

Voki allows students to create a custom avatar and then record their voice to play on their website, blog, or through email. Students can use Voki for lots of school applications, including:

  • Reading a custom poem in Language Arts
  • Explaining a difficult word problem in Math
  • Creating a famous scientist avatar and describing their important contributions
  • Making an avatar of a newscaster and reporting on a current event for Social Studies
  • Becoming a well known composer and telling the story behind a piece of music for Band
  • Pretending your Martha Stewart and giving out a secret recipe for Home Economics
  • Trying your had at a new language during ESL class
  • Giving a 3 minute nutrition lesson in Health class

All of these Voki videos can be turned in to the teacher and embedded on the class or school website. Giving students an opportunity to showcase their 21st century learning skills.
