Top 11 from '11: #8- Evernote in the Classroom

Notebooks are a big part of many classrooms. Students carry around some or most of the essential classroom items in their notebook; pens and pencils, paper, compiled notes, last night's homework (if the dog didn't get it), and extra paper and pencils to give out to others that 'forgot.'

The trouble with notebooks (particularly in middle school) is that students don't want them. They can be bulky, easy to lose (or 'forgotten'), disorganized, and difficult to teach each student to use to fit their needs.

Evernote is a tool that can help just about any student, and teacher, in the classroom. Evernote is a software tool that enables users to capture everything, access it anywhere, and find things easily. Evernote is the digital notebook everyone should have.

Teachers can easily have students setup an Evernote account and organize their notes into Notebooks. One notebook for each class gives a student the opportunity to put any ideas, files, photos, scans, audio or video captures, or webclippings into the appropriate class Notebook. Sharing the notebook with the teacher, classmates, or group members gives everyone involved the chance to see and share notes.

Since Evernote is accessible to just about every computer, cellphone, and tablet on the market, 'losing' notes and notebooks could become a thing of the past!

Students will no longer have to purchase USB flash drives. Simply save everything into Evernote and share with anyone you need. It's that simple. Evernote basic is free to all who create an account, but educational institutions receive a substantial discount on Premium accounts with extra features and unlimited storage space.
