TodaysMeet for Students

There's very little to stop young people from talking to each other these days. With easy access to Instant Messaging, texting, Facebooking (is that in the dictionary yet?), and Twittering, there are conversations going on all the time.

A wise teacher would not step in front of this giant wave of communication and attempt to stop their students from talking to one another. Instead, they would take advantage of the technology and opportunity to direct the conversations toward classroom content and problem solving.

This is why students should be introduced to TodaysMeet. It functions much like Twitter, except without having to create an account, finding and following everyone you want to talk to, no hashtags to worry about, and a focus on including only the people you want involved in a conversation.

TodaysMeet is a great online tool for students to talk in quiet space without a lot of distractions. It can be used for many purposes, including:

  • Group project meetings outside of regular class time.
  • Asking classmates to submit questions during a project presentation.
  • Having a content area expert meet with your project group to help brainstorm ideas.
  • Meeting with classmates in another room, or school, to collaborate on a project.
  • Ask questions while the teacher is teaching a lesson, and have them answered by classmates without stopping instruction.
  • Taking an oral quiz.
  • Answering a journal/opening question to get class started.
  • Posting interesting facts while doing research on a topic.
  • Have a silent debate over a current event.
