As a Science teacher I was constantly frustrated with the seeming lack of supplies and resources I had to teach basic Science concepts in my classroom. Beakers, flasks, Bunsen Burners, test tubes, and the list could go on.
If only I had opened my mind, eyes, and my internet browser. I wish I had found Arvind Gupta's work. He recently gave a TED talk on Turning Trash Into Toys For Learning. What a great lesson he teaches about discovering Science principles with simple instruments and components we often throw in the trash.
I especially like how he explains students' coming alive when they're able to build what they're learning instead of simply studying it.
Watch his video and hopefully you'll be inspired, too!
