How To Get More Responses From Emails

It's frustrating, particularly toward the end of the year, to send important emails and not get responses. If you need information and there's only one person who can give it to you, when they don't reply in the time you need, it can ruin a day, project, or reputation.

Michael Hyatt, whom we're big fans of, wrote a list of 10 Strategies For Getting Faster Responses To Your Emails. They're quite practical and simple, but have the potential to change the way you send emails. Read the full article to see all 10, but here are our 3 favorite:

1. Write a relevant subject line- Just like a newspaper headline, this attracts their attention and informs them of what is to come and expected.

2. Put your question at the top- Put the most important thing at the top and don't make your email too long. When someone writes long emails, what do YOU tend to do? That's right, save it for later and then end up not reading it at all.

3. Use the 'negative option'- This makes their response optional, as in, "Unless you reply by 4:00 p.m. today, I'll assume that you approve of me sending in our application."

Hope these help you get better and faster response from the emails you send! Also, give Michael Hyatt's site a good look through. He has a wealth of information on Productivity, Leadership, Social Media, and more.
