If you haven't heard about it yet, YouTube introduced Live Streaming. It use to be that you could only shoot video or create a movie on your computer and then upload it to YouTube for viewing. Now, the middle's been cut out and anyone with a webcam and internet access can stream video straight to YouTube.
This is great for classrooms and most any learning environments. Teachers are now able to connect with experts, professionals, other classrooms, or countries by logging in to YouTube simultaneously.
This means that the canceled field trip you wanted to take to the museum can still take place by connecting to the museum tour guide through YouTube Live Streaming. Also, your students' favorite author may have scheduled a live talk and now the classroom can join in. Or, better yet, have the students create a live webinar/seminar on a topic they are confident in, advertise it over Twitter and the Blogoshpere, and see how many others can attend!
This new live streaming is a great way to get students excited about finding great content over the web or creating it on their own.
