It was announced yesterday that Simon & Schuster have teemed up with Everloop to create an Online Tween Book Club. The goal is to connect tweens with their favorite books and authors.
As a former middle school teacher, this idea is promising. With the release of the Twilight series, overwhelming success of Harry Potter, and others like The Lightning Theif and The Hunger Games, young people are reading! A lot! This partnership could make the link between traditional physical books and ebooks a little smoother. In addition, readers will have more opportunity to interact with what they read after they're finished.
What could be best is the chance to ask the author questions about the book or series that friends or other online sites could only speculate over.
This could be a big score for young readers, parents, and teachers if we all work together and guide young people to books that are age and comprehension appropriate.
